my mom bathed me ONCE A WEEK(through summer heat/PE classes/etc) without explaining anything my entire childhood until I got made fun of at school for smelling RANK. I told my mom and begged for deodorant or perfume(I thought that was what I was missing) and she sl*t shamed me for trying to "attract" my classmates by SMELLING GOOD IG??? I had to learn to clean myself with online tutorials nothing more humiliating than looking up "how to shower"

that's why sexual education in schools are so important! A lot of people believe the teacher will show a step by step of how to get pregnant, but S Education is just teaching about periods, hygiene and other body factors that children need to learn somewhere. I am sorry it haoppened to you! My mom would buy a shampoo I was alergic to for years. To this day she will tell people that I have alergies that I never had and ignore the ones I do have

My parents used to wash me up until about 6 and visual learning was how I learned a lot of my stuff. So I was able to take showers alone at 7. Not to say you should be expected to do that it’s just cool how we learn things in different ways

I didn't know what a period was either. And when I told my mom, really worried, that I was bleeding and hurting so much, she just laughed and left. She got angry at me later because I was getting stressed since I had no idea of what was happening and why I had to do that every month for a long time from that moment

Lowkey only learned how to clean myself when I was forced to wash my baby sibblings and cousins. though I didn't wash my siblings and cousins that well because I wasnt really taught how to wash them, only watched 😭

My parents yell at me everyday over me not brushing my teeth but not only they NEVER tried to teach me the basics of dental hygiene but they also force me to use products that makes it terribly overwhelming and hard to do because as an autistic person there’s specific sensations that I can’t handle and make me puke - they know but they don’t care

I wish there was a whole program to teach kids how to do basic hygiene😭 ong I didn't know how to tie my hair until 8, how to cook until 12, and how to properly brush at 11😭 n 2 this day idk how to shower properly

mi mamá me regañaba por ensuciar mi ropa interior cuando estaba en mi periodo, pero es que las toallas (SIN ALAS porque ella así las usaba) nunca fueron para mí, y nunca me explico de otros métodos. Soy adulta y sigo manchando, pero no le veo el gran problema simplemente se lava o esa ropa interior se queda para ser ropa de periodo menstrual.
