be careful with the starter cable end. went through 3 starters before i realised the lug was too big for a factory starter. the lug gets caught on the plastic and pulls the starter terminal through the plastic. had to take a dremel to the lug to thin one side for it to fit correctly.

I wonder if the cables are actually long enough, the standard brand negative cables are not long enough, I would think at 30 years the positive would be the problem but we checked resistance and it was the negative cables that we were having issues with
