@blendedbydistance: For a long time, you may have overexplained, overfunctioned, and worked hard to meet everyone else’s needs. You tried to be supportive, dependable, and the kind of stepmom no one could criticize. You stayed available, stepped in, and said yes because you cared and wanted things to work. Now your boundaries might look like ending a conversation when you’re being disrespected, choosing not to respond in a way that pulls you further into conflict, or stepping back from responsibilities that are taking more from you than you have to give. When you stop being available at everyone’s beck and call, people may notice what you’re no longer doing more than they remember everything you were carrying. If they were used to your overextending yourself, your limits might feel inconvenient to them. That doesn’t automatically make those limits unfair. Before you slip back into old patterns, pause and ask: What am I responsible for? What can I offer without draining my capacity? What do I need to talk through with my partner? You don’t have to prove you’re a good stepmom by tolerating disrespect or giving more than you have. You can care about your family, show up with love, and still protect your capacity. #stepmom #blendedfamily #stepmomsoftiktok #stepmomsupport #bonusmom
