The prompt says ‘body count doesn’t matter,’ yet two studies tie it to oral HPV and divorce. 1) Gillison et al. (JAMA, 2012, ‘Prevalence of oral HPV infection in the United States, 2009–2010,’ p. E1) found that more partners went with higher oral HPV prevalence. 2) Smith and Wolfinger (Journal of Family Issues, 2024, ‘Re-examining the link between premarital sex and divorce,’ p. 683) found about 3x the modeled divorce odds for people with 9+ premarital partners, compared with people whose only premarital partner was their eventual spouse. The predictable replies are ‘safe sex,’ ‘divorce is good’ and ‘experience improves judgment.’ But naming a precaution doesn’t establish that the link disappears, liking an outcome doesn’t make it irrelevant, and offering an explanation doesn’t prove it. If you want to respond, bring a study or take apart one of these. I’m not interested in hearing anyone’s feelings about this.
