Every year, I hear people recommending someone simply because they're supposedly getting everyone thousands of dollars back. But a legitimate tax refund depends on your actual income, deductions, credits and financial circumstances. Here's my advice. Before anybody files your taxes, ask to see your completed return. Have them walk you through it line by line. Understand where those numbers came from and what you're signing. Because a refund that looks too good to be true could turn into a serious financial problem later. Don't just chase the biggest refund. Make sure your return is accurate.
