@scenicfights: Filipino Martial Arts Blade Legend Doug Marcaida Breaks Down the Musso Bowie Knife, and discusses its design for combat🗡️🗡️🗡️ #scenicfights #martialarts #forgedinfire #actionmovie #History 🎥 This movie clip is from The Alamo (2004). ⚠️ Disclaimer: The techniques shown in this video are demonstrated for educational and entertainment purposes only. Do not attempt to replicate these moves, as they may be dangerous without proper training and supervision. 📜 History: The Musso Bowie knife is a controversial artifact acquired by California collector Joseph Musso in 1970. Years later, cleaning the blade revealed the initials "J.B." which Musso attributed to James Bowie, the Alamo defender. Metallurgical testing reportedly dated the steel to the 1830s and Musso also consulted a psychic about its origins. Sold to musician Phil Collins for a reported $15 million, it now rests in the Alamo collection in San Antonio, though experts still debate whether it is genuine or a hoax. Roughly 11¾ inches long and 1¾ inches wide, it follows the clip-point Bowie pattern, with a brass strip along the spine that absorbed or caught an opponent's blade during parries and a crossguard shielding the hand. The heavy blade supported both slashing and thrusting in close-quarters fighting. Its silhouette inspired the prop seen in the 2004 film The Alamo.

Rusty Shackleford :
Have you covered the Arkansas Toothpick yet? I know it is kind of a cross between a Bowie and a dagger but I haven’t really seen one actually used

Bowie was also a trail outdoorsman. Though he used it to fight, on the daily he would have probably used it more like a short machete. Could you use machete tactics to fight with a Bowie?

Thats bs nobody ever will fight with the Edge up, in a fight you dont care about what your blade Looks afterwards. You think about not dying.

not sure how true it is but I've heard that a reason he might have fought blade up like that is for gutting opponents by stabbing and pulling up
