I once met a farmer who was very firm on not eating any of his animals as he said that the idea of eating his animals made him physically sick. He was very strict on only getting his meat from a certain butcher who was his most trusted friend. He even went as far as to say that if there was ever an apocalypse he would only want to live off animals eggs and milk as he would never want to eat his animal's meat, this also includes only eating fruits and vegetables and grains. He also said that if there was nothing left but his animals meat, he would happily starve to death rather than eat them.

I’d much rather know my meat had been well cared for and been happy while it was alive and know where it came from than the factory farms that they’re kept at from the store brought meat.

People said a similar thing to clueless bushcraft when he got a pig to raise up for meat. Apparently the pig too cute for some of them and he should just buy pork or get another pig that isn’t cute and keep the cute one alive.

People amaze me like what do you mean you shouldn’t butcher it? Do they know it’s the same kind of meat like the one in the store? It’s both pork but this way you know exactly where it’s been. Honestly so many people lately aren’t taught how their food is made and that’s so sad.

If I had the choice between eating a random pig from a supermarket or my own pig, a pig I knew everything about, a pig who I knew had a great life and only 1 bad day then it’s obvious what my choice would be. Same with chickens, turkeys and sheep…

This is why I suppose programs like this, small farms, and homesteaders. These pigs look so happy and it’s clear you overall respect them and truly care about the quality of life for your livestock.
