@sandeee_: 🚨 CONCERNING CHILD SAFETY INCIDENT AT BEACHY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 🚨 📍 Beachy Elementary School – Arleta, CA I want to bring attention to a very concerning incident that I witnessed yesterday, October 29, 2026, at approximately 12:49 p.m. A young child was left alone outside in the schoolyard without adult supervision. After witnessing this, I immediately went to the school office to report my concerns. The principal informed me that she would look into what had happened. Today, I called to follow up. According to the principal, the teacher explained that the child was refusing to come inside, so the teachers brought the rest of the children indoors and left him outside to calm down. The teacher reportedly stated that she was on her way back outside to get him. My response was simple: THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! No child should EVER be left alone without adult supervision, regardless of whether they are refusing to follow directions, having a difficult moment, or needing time to calm down. A child's safety should ALWAYS come first. I also questioned the explanation because, when the incident occurred, I heard someone call out to the teacher that "Arturo" had been left outside. If the teacher was aware that the child was outside and intended to return for him, why did someone have to alert her? I noticed that there are surveillance cameras in that area, so I suggested that the principal review the footage to establish exactly what happened rather than relying solely on the teacher's explanation. The principal also mentioned that she had reminded the teachers that, moving forward, they need to keep count of the children. MOVING FORWARD? Keeping an accurate count of children and ensuring that every child is accounted for should have been a basic safety practice from DAY ONE, not something implemented after a child was left unattended! What concerned me even more was when I asked whether the child's parents had been informed. The principal responded that she thought the teacher had called them. My response was, "That's the wrong answer. As the principal, you should be making sure that the child's parents are informed." Parents trust schools with their children's safety every single day. That trust comes with a tremendous responsibility. I am sharing this because child supervision is NOT optional, accountability matters, and parents deserve transparency when incidents like this occur. This is not about attacking anyone. It is about making sure that what happened is taken seriously, properly investigated, and never happens again. NO CHILD SHOULD EVER BE LEFT BEHIND. NO CHILD SHOULD EVER BE LEFT UNSUPERVISED. EVERY CHILD DESERVES TO BE SAFE. #BeachyElementary #ChildSafety #SchoolAccountability #ParentAwareness

Idk.. I get it but then again If my kid has to stand outside because another kid is choosing not to listen, I’d be annoyed. what should the teacher do when they are already juggling nearly 30 kids? I know someone whose kid eloped out of class 10+ times a day. That is also exhausting.

Contact the district and tell them to hire more TA's/ paraprofessionals. In cases like this, there will always be an adult around.

One I completely get it a kid safety but sometimes we don’t always know all the facts. We don’t know all the behaviors either I had a kid where he would act out more aggressively if people were physically standing there watching him so for the safety of the child and for others there are protocols throughout the school, making sure there’s people around on standby if kid were to leave and people watching from the other side through the window without the kid knowing

Why would the student refuse to go inside with their class and not follow direction. That is also a concern. And I’m concerned the other students lost out on learning time with the teacher having to deal with a student refusing to listen

I’m a behavior tech and there are kids who leave on their own and the teacher can’t just leave the rest of the class to get them. But what the teacher needs to do is call a school staff member to stay with the child until they return. Literally any school staff would be acceptable. And if it keeps happening, that child needs an aid

Teacher can’t leave 20 students by themselves for 1 student. She should have called someone for help. Also if it keeps on happening then it’s time to try and get a 1 on 1 for student.

You are so correct that was unacceptable. Even if he didn’t want to go inside an adult should have been with him near by there’s a bench an adult could have sat there and waited till the child was ready. This is why as an autistic mom I put a tracker on my son because you never know what happens in schools. The parents should have been notified as soon as the principal heard of the incident. Also thank god you were there and you were a person with good intentions. The San Fernando Valley and the world in general is filled with all types of people especially unsafe people. I would notify the police or the district.

I remember when teachers would kick you out of class if you weren’t following directions or disturbing the class. I don’t get how that’s different

As someone who works in the field, I will say yes there should be no absolute reason that they are by themselves. But not all schools have a helper or someone along the lines. Legally we are not allowed to grab the kids or put our hands on them. We must move the children to where they cannot interact or see the child who is acting out. Also for their safety as well.
