Sea bunnies are tiny little sea slugs that look like fluffy bunnies underwater, and they’re honestly one of the cutest creatures in the ocean 🐰🌊💗 Their scientific name is Jorunna parva, and they usually grow to around 1–2.5 centimetres long, which means they’re smaller than most people’s fingers! The little bunny ears on their heads aren’t actually ears but sensory organs called rhinophores that help them detect chemicals in the water and find food. The fluffy-looking bumps covering their bodies are called tubercles, and they help them sense their surroundings. Sea bunnies are usually white, yellow, orange or brown, and some even have tiny dark spots that make them look like miniature stuffed animals! 🥹 Despite looking soft and cuddly, they aren’t mammals and shouldn’t be touched or picked up because they’re delicate marine animals. They eat certain types of sea sponges, and some species can store toxins from their food to help protect themselves from predators. They live in the ocean, particularly around Japan and other parts of the Indo-Pacific region, where they crawl slowly along the seabed.
