Brittany Ransom :
A CATHETER goes onto her husbands urethra. So she wanted her parents to see her husbands penis? See I would have said LOUDLY “your husbands penis was exposed while I removed the catheter from his urethra. He was exposed AND it’s uncomfortable for him. Why would you want your family to see him naked and vulnerable?”

Part of a nurses job is maintaining the patients privacy and dignity. The nurse didn't do anything wrong.

The nurse (politely) threw me out of my dad's room in my house when she was changing my dad's catheter. OP is wrong and being stubborn.

if that nurse is like the ones I know, she is speaking on his behalf, he complained to her about this and she is simply being the punching bag, bet he told his wife all this stuff and she isn't listening

The fact her husband appreciated the nurse and she's still pissy 😒 Yea, YTA. Do your parents really need to see his catheter changes???

if he was just chilling, awake, I’d be on the wife’s side. ANY other situation, which this was, I’m on nurse’s side. she’s hired to make sure he’s doing as well as he can, part of that is making sure his privacy isn’t violated and that he getd the rest he needs.

YTA. Also in addition to the privacy thing, it’s probably more stressful to the nurse if people are in the room or the husvand is talking to them while she is trying to put the catheter in.

Why would you want your parents to see your husband in a vulnerable state? I would want to protect him at all times, especially if he was this sick. “They’re worried sick.” Okay. They can worry for 2 more minutes.

This is wild 🤯 Like how is the wife not understanding "I don't want your parents to see a lady sticking a tube up my urethra?" That's a diabolical lack of empathy

Nurse here 👋 100% OP is the AH. Any parents-in-law DO NOT want to see that process. This could have also been saved by a simple “my parents are coming over at 10am, we’d like to visit” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wife needs to balance the control. The nurse should defend his privacy during procedures that expose him. And the wife needs to let him rest and heal. But in the general visiting, the nurse can offer guidance but not be the final say. Also, any home health nurse can be replaced if she's not meshing with family's dynamics.

A nurse’s job is also to be a patient’s advocate. She clearly was within her scope the entire time.
