kinda funny one: my grandma is one of those white people that thinks they're related to a "cherokee princess" and makes up random fractions for our "ancestory." i'm 100% european. she was mad at being called out on her BS.

My Mom always knew she was adopted. But my grandparents were told that she was 2 college kid's child, and they just weren't ready to be parents. My mom turned 60 this year last year shortly before she turned 59. We found out my mom was 1 of 6 girls. She was the youngest and she was the affair child. Her sister, that's closest to her age is 7 years older. They knew their mom was pregnant. Mom went to the hospital came home said that the baby died at birth and that it was a boy. We matched on 23 me to my mom's niece, and then we did ancestry and matched to her sister. We actually flew out to California and met them all well. The Three Sisters that are still alive. we know she has a sibling on her dad side (don't know who dad is) but unsure if its a sister or brother but we know they have a son and a grand son but neither will answer my messages

probably not as interesting but we found out through mine that the reason my grandma was adopted and didn't know her bio family was because they all died in the holocaust and she was a baby smuggled to England from Europe

I did one and found out I was the product of an affair my mom had with her boss after 23&Me linked me with a half brother in 2021. My mom passed way in 2020. I have a good relationship with him and his wife of 55 years. I’m 40. 😬

I found out last year that I have a random great uncle (who is also gay…this is important), my great grandmother got pregnant at 17 out of wedlock and her son was taken from her and she was shipped off to Australia….she’s embarrassed of him and highly homophobic so didn’t mention it to anyone until last year when she got really sick, she’s recovered now and I want to meet my great uncle because as far as I’m aware I’m the only other member of the lgbtqia+ in this family

My aunt found out that her parents aren’t her parents. She was always told that her mom died when she was really young and her dad remarried and had more kids with another woman who raised her and she considered to be her mom. Nope, that was a lie. She is 0% related to her supposed half siblings, so now she is deep diving into her hometown church birth records

My brother in law has been wanting a ancestory test just for the curiosity of things. My MIL has seemed very against it and acts very weird everytime we talk about them…. I’m curious 👀

My cousins found out my uncle, their dad, had 3 kids with 3 different women while he was stationed in another state before being shipped out for Vietnam. They got to meet all 3 before he passed. And I found out I'm 27.2% German so that's fun.

My grandfather isn’t my grandfather. My grandmother admitted to me when I asked her. Said my “grandfather” met her pregnant and stepped up.

I found out a family secret through regular ancestry. I have a diamond ring from my WV great great aunt and she died single, never married. Nope, she snuck off at 60+, got married. Husband died in Oregon. She died "single" in rural WV. They grew up in the same WV town. Her name is Margaret. After I found this clandestine marriage, I call her sassy Maggie. Her obit states she never married 😂

As an adoptee, I’m glad I did the test and found out where I came from but it’s wild how just wanting basic info about yourself can start a whole fight.

My mom is half Vietnamese and didn’t start looking for her biological father until she was in her 50s. Sadly, she found out that he had passed away in 2020. However, she also discovered that she had brothers, sisters, and cousins she had never known. When she reached out to see if they would be open to getting to know her, they rejected her and asked her not to contact them again. At the time, their mother was still alive and had no idea that her husband had been unfaithful. They wanted to keep it that way, even if it meant shutting my mom out completely. Understandably, my mom was devastated. After spending so many years searching for her biological father, she finally found a connection to the family she had never known, only to have that door slammed in her face.

I took an ancestry test and it confirmed all the feelings I had as a child. And why I didn't look like my siblings. At 45 i found out I have a real father alive in canada, whom had a daughter and two sons. sadly, they want nothing to do with me. it hurts being rejected for something you never knew about.

I’m tempted to get one, but considering my dad couldn’t be faithful if his life depended on it I’m wary of finding more siblings.

My mom found an older sister who was put up for adoption because my grandmothers brother raped her when she was 13. The older sister grew up not even an hour from where we lived.

We gave my son an ancestry DNA tsst for Christmas. People popped up on both sides that I knew except for one. So I did a DNA test. Turns out he was my half brother. My husband contacted my dad because I am no contact and he still denies it. Like brother DNA doesn't lie!

My twin and I did ancestry tests. First we wanted to make sure we were full siblings (our mother is a pathological liar) turns out we are. Plus we found our biological father on there about a month ago. My mother always said he wanted nothing to do with me. Turns out he has been waiting 28 years for us to find him. He talks to me wayyyyyyy more than my adopted dad that raised me.

My mom … with her dad . All her life he said he wasn’t her dad. He abused her all ways u can think growing up . I did the ancestry and he’s my grandfather. So it hit her harder knowing it was her dad all along and how could he do that . We were never to be with our grandfather . He was evil .
