@emberwildrelm: 🍎🍂 HOMEMADE SPICED APPLE CIDER 🍂🍎 There's nothing quite like the smell of fresh apples, cinnamon, and warm spices filling your home on a chilly autumn day. 🍁❤️ Forget store-bought cider! This homemade apple cider is made from scratch with fresh ingredients and a whole lot of cozy fall goodness. 🥰 🍎 INGREDIENTS: - 3 lbs fresh apples (about 8–10 apples) - 1 orange, sliced - 3–4 cinnamon sticks - 1 tsp whole cloves - ½ tsp ground allspice (optional) - ¼ cup brown sugar or maple syrup (optional) - 8–10 cups water, enough to cover the fruit 🥄 INSTRUCTIONS: 🍎 1. Prepare Your Fruit Wash your apples and cut them into quarters. There's no need to peel or core them! Slice your orange into rounds. 🍎 2. Fill Your Pot Place the apples, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice into a large pot. Add enough water to cover the fruit. 🍎 3. Let It Simmer Bring everything to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for approximately 2 hours, allowing all those delicious flavors to blend together. 🍎 4. Mash the Apples Once the apples are soft, use a potato masher or wooden spoon to mash them directly in the pot. 🍎 5. Simmer Some More Continue simmering for another 30–60 minutes to extract even more flavor. 🍎 6. Strain Your Cider Carefully pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl or another pot. Press the softened fruit to release the remaining juice. 🍎 7. Sweeten to Taste Stir in brown sugar or maple syrup if desired. Taste your cider first because the apples may provide plenty of natural sweetness! 🍎 8. Serve & Enjoy! Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy warm, or refrigerate and serve chilled! 🍂 A LITTLE TIP: Use a combination of sweet apples like Honeycrisp and Gala with tart Granny Smith apples for a perfectly balanced cider! 🫙 STORAGE: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage. ✨ Sometimes the simplest recipes bring the most comfort. 🍁 Fresh apples, warm spices, and a little homemade magic. ❤️ #HomemadeAppleCider #AppleCider #FallRecipes #FromScratchCooking #CottagecoreKitchen
