Fellas, if this ever happens to you (and chances are, it will), this is the moment you need to stop, take a step back and emotionally detach yourself from her. It's going to be difficult because your natural instinct will be to act on your feelings. You'll want to try harder, compete with the other guy or start seeing him as your enemy. Don't ever do that.
You'll only come across as insecure and weak. Be cool with the other guy. He hasn't wronged you; he's his own individual, just like you. And the girl? She's free to choose whoever she wants. You don't own her, and she doesn't owe you her attention.
Yes, your feelings are hurt. You're disappointed, and that's completely valid. But don't let those feelings dictate your actions. Take a step back. Leave her alone. If you need to, distance yourself completely. Don't chase, don't compete, don't seek her attention and don't try to prove anything. Let her live her life and go her own way.
You do the same. It's a hard pill to swallow, but you'll get over it. Put that energy back into yourself, your own life and meeting other women who genuinely appreciate you for who you are.
Never compete for someone's attention. Know when to walk away, keep your dignity and move on.
