I thought there were positive signs during the July test window when they went unbeaten, but that seems to have gone out the window

USA rugby will struggle because they go out onto the pitch thinking they ‘may’ win, not we can win, we will win, we must win. Look at Argentina, look at Italy, how much heart the put in, they cry when they lose against teams that people expect them to lose to, they cry against those team when they win (tears of joy). When you watch US play you can literally see a team that just playing rugby for vibes. If I were US rugby I’d be doing joint training with South Africa for the metal side of rugby, New Zealand for the skill side and Fiji for the physical side. There needs to be a serious mentality shift

Get coaches from outside your country. Get them from a country where Rugby is one of their main sports. The coaches will pick the right guys then.

Go to them with a advertising business idea and only then they might be interested. USA sport is about money, not about the game.

Until rugby is part of school phys ed curriculums beginning at age 5 the USA is not going to compete at an international level. Physical prowess is only one part. There's game IQ, technique, and a robust national development program that are needed as well. That's why taking professional athlete's or top athlete's from other sports doesn't pan out on a large scale.

Agree matches like this put the sport back in the US, the RWC being there will make it worse. I just don’t think they’ll be able to ever pull enough resources away from the major US sport leagues to be actually competitive.
