He has to rely on someone else for the rest of his life, and it turned a once considerate man into a monster. What’s sad is the underlying reason behind it. He is beating her down emotionally in the hopes that she won’t ever leave. And then because he truly started believing that, he treats her however he wants because it makes him feel a bit better about his pathetic situation. She needs to divorce him and show him that he was lucky to have HER, and that it’s not the other way around. Some spouses don’t “sign on for cripple duty” (a real quote from my dad to my mom when she became disabled while she was pregnant with me). Vows mean absolutely nothing when someone can’t handle hardship.
