Here’s how I would invest $1,000 if I was 35, was starting from $0, and wanted to retire a millionaire. While knowing nothing about investing for the stock market! 1. Open up a free retirement or brokerage account with Fidelity (not sponsored, I just use them and like them). If you want tax efficiency look at a traditional or Roth IRA. If you want access to your money penalty-free before age 59 1/2, open up an individual brokerage account. 2. Transfer money into your new account from your bank. If you can, max out your Roth IRA by contributing $583/month for the year so you can take advantage of tax-free investment growth! 3. Buy your first investment. In this video I use VTI as an example, which tracks the total US stock market, but always do your own research and buy whatever you like. 4. Set up recurring monthly investments within your Fidelity account so that you’re continuing to grow your portfolio on a regular basis. To reach $2M by age 65 in this scenario, you’d have to invest $1,500/month for 30 years. But you’d only have to contribute $540K of your own money. The other $1.46M would be free money thanks to compound interest. If you can’t do $1500/month, just start with what you can do and work your way up over time. Some free money is better than no free money! You can also play around with online compound interest calculators. If you want more help, comment NEWSLETTER and I’ll give you my free weekly newsletter for beginner investors. #PersonalFinance #investingforbeginners #moneytok #tiktokencyclopediacontest #stockmarket
