@n123c321: Today, I went to South Padre Island to look for a Purple Gallinule that had been reported yesterday. I was lucky enough to see it feeding in the open during my last scan of the area it had been seen! A month ago, there had been a juvenile purple gallinule seen at the Hidalgo County Courthouse and since my gf and I were close by, we went to look for it (we didn’t find it). It was cool to finally see one, especially in its beautiful, iridescent adult plumage. Purple Gallinules are fairly uncommon at SPI this time of year so I’m glad I didn’t have to wait until may (when they’re most common) to see one! I also saw a new species of shorebird, though I didn’t realize it until I reviewed my pictures for the day. During my sesh, I knew the shorebird looked unfamiliar, but I didn’t know it was a Dunlin #birds #birdphotography #birdwatching #birdsoftiktok #southpadreisland
