Google is unusable now. The AI info is outdated, the results are limited and mostly don’t have anything to do with the search, and finally they messed up by removing any potentially copyrighted or inappropriate results. I remember when you’d get 4-5 pages of results not just one crappy page. It’s all AI so I just have Claude do my searching and if I need to manually search I use Yandex

I miss pre AI google, it used to pull up scholarly articles when I was looking for medical topics and now it just makes up web Md / Reddit AI nonsense

AI mode is destroying publishers too, so it’s also ruining the internet itself. People aren’t creating content for Google to steal and display to people without getting clicks to their sites

Thank you for explaining!! I also feel like since google implemented AI-Mode, SEO and keywords have gone out of wack. It’s harder to find answers on my own, its like I’m being forced to use Gemini to get a solid answer. I’ve wondered if this is on purpose, or if AI-mode is changing user behavior which is changing how sites are optimized?

I installed the chrome extension that hides the AI mode and any related components using CSS. not really losing anything and search is back to normal :)

I stopped using Google because the ai overview and genereal search result had gotten so bad. That was over a year ago and I am not the only one.

Can we also say that they have become trash? I have never wanted to leave the Google ecosystem more than I have this year. Glitches, bugs, cyclical help loops. Just abysmal code quality and no joy.

Makes sense because when you look smth up the AI just puts all the relevant info up top and you don’t feel the need to scroll down (unless I’m unhappy and I scroll down to find someone from reddit with the same problem 6 years ago)
