I’m surprised at how many people admit on different platforms that having kids was not what they expected or hoped for and regret it. Especially here on TikTok and Reddit. I’m glad I always trusted my instinct that it wasn’t for me.

I’m 23 with two toddlers, I’m also a widow. I took my kids to the beach yesterday impromptu. We also hold a season pass to a theme park and go often. Having kids doesn’t mean your life has ended or it gets boring. I always said I’d grow up and be the fun aunt. I didn’t intend to get married or have kids, but I’m grateful I did.

Honestly it’s how annoying some of my friends are with their kids. If I don’t go to every single function or come over to see the kids enough they look at me like I am monster. I’ve stopped talking to one couple because everytime I go over it’s just about how I don’t see the kids enough and that it shows I don’t care about them. Ppl turn into physcos when they have kids.

39 here and I have trying for years with my husband to have kids- ultimately, I also know Im also not interested in pursuing IVF for a laundry list of personal reasons I don’t need to get into. It’s very likely that I will probably never become a parent and I’ve moved through different stages with this. Sadness. Jealousy. Anger. Acceptance. And now honestly….relief. I may not have any children of my own but I’m an elementary school teacher so I see little vignettes into a world I no longer want tbh. Raising a child in 2026 is no effing joke man. Unless you have a strong community, money or you’re one of the lucky few to have figured out how to have both… it seems incredibly challenging to do in ways I that dont align with what I want out of life. Is this life I thought I would have at 39? No, definitely not. But this is the life I have grown to hold close to my heart and that I’m incredibly grateful for.

I don't (and never will) want marriage or kids. BUT I'm still sad about not being with my mom and dog one day. They're my whole world. I think I'm gonna end up volunteering at the animal shelters a lot, or adopting senior dogs.

How out of touch you become. I don’t have friends with children so I know absolutely nothing about what’s going on with children. The other day I ended up looking up what’s trending kids, what kind of music they like celebrities etc. because I realize that had absolutely no idea.

Reading these at 4am because my 6mo woke up hungry, he proceeded to poop out his diaper everywhere, huge mess, while he's losing his mind my very frustrated wife comes downstairs with our 2yo because baby woke up our toddler and she acts like I personally woke them up because I'm wiping down a pop covered baby who's crying because he's hungry and cold. 😵💫
