Well, would y’all look at what I made?! 🩷🍎✨ Emily says I’ve made candied apples before, but I have absolutely no recollection of that, so as far as I’m concerned, THIS is my first attempt! 😂 And listen to me right now, I am pretty daggum proud of these things!! PINK GLITTER COTTON CANDY CANDIED APPLES!! And they turned out absolutely BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS! I don’t know if this is the same recipe Uncle Andy used when we were visiting him and Aunt Kathy in Granbury, but whatever it is, IT WORKED!! Now I’m over here wondering if I’m fixing to become a professional candied apple maker. Is this my next business venture?! Because one successful batch and suddenly I think I need a storefront! 😂 And with Halloween tomorrow, what better time to make candied apples?! I may have to try another color tomorrow! 🩷 PINK COTTON CANDY CANDIED APPLES 🍎✨ Ingredients: * 2 cups granulated sugar * 1/3 cup light Karo syrup * 1/2 cup water * Food coloring (I used pink!) * Candy flavoring (I used cotton candy!) * Edible glitter (optional) * Fresh apples * Candy apple sticks Directions: 1. Prep your apples FIRST! Dip each apple into boiling water for about 5 seconds to help remove the wax coating. Dry them COMPLETELY. This is important because the candy needs to stick! Insert your sticks and have everything ready before making the candy. 2. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, Karo syrup, and water. 3. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. 4. Once the mixture begins boiling, STOP STIRRING! Insert your candy thermometer and let it cook until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). Mine took about 15 minutes. 5. DO NOT remove it before it reaches 300°F! Once it hits 300°F, immediately remove it from the heat. 6. Let it sit for about 30 seconds before carefully adding your food coloring and candy flavoring. The mixture is EXTREMELY hot and the additions may bubble up, so be careful! 7. Add your edible glitter if desired, then carefully dip and rotate each apple to coat it. 8. Place on a prepared nonstick surface and allow the candy coating to harden completely. And there you have it! Beautiful, shiny, crunchy candied apples! #halloween #candy #apple #homemade #sparkle
