For a long time, I thought of my body as just a thing to be looked at. A spectacle for other people. A reason for someone to want to get to know me. I ate to look good, and looking good made me feel good. Years ago, I got a tummy tuck post weight loss to get rid of extra skin. So whenever I pictured getting pregnant, one of my biggest fears was always “what if it ruins my body?” I worried about that right up until my body did something I still cannot believe. I grew a person. A perfect person. The same body I thought was only here to be looked at had a purpose I never could’ve imagined. Everything about pregnancy stretched me as far as possible. Literally and figuratively. Mentally and physically. So yes, I look like I had a baby. I feel like I had a baby. Because I did. My stomach is softer, and so am I, entirely. I don’t look at my body as something for other people to look at anymore. I look at it as the thing that created this whole new life. You’re allowed to look like you had a baby after you have a baby. You don’t have to bounce back. Honestly, I mostly look forward to bouncing back emotionally because this has been a hell of a ride ♥️ #postpartum
