Cardiff is finally learning to go down on command! 🎯 He’s still having a little difficulty, but that’s completely normal when learning a new behaviour. Dog training isn’t about getting everything perfect in one session; it’s about patience, repetition, timing, and consistency. As I always say, consistency is key! Another important part of our daily routine is exercise before training. Working dogs, especially guardian breeds, need regular, appropriate physical activity to help maintain their fitness, strength, and overall well-being. However, exercise should be suited to the dog’s age, health, and physical condition, with enough rest and recovery. We’re building more than just obedience here. We’re developing communication, focus, discipline, and the ability to respond to commands. For now, Cardiff is still working with treats as a reward. The next step is to gradually reduce his dependence on food lures while continuing to reward correct responses, so he can eventually perform the command reliably without needing to see a treat first. Remember: teach the behaviour first, build consistency second, and gradually introduce distractions as your dog improves.
