Everyone's talking about MCP… but ACP solves a completely different problem. 🔌 You've probably heard of MCP by now. It's how AI coding agents like Claude Code connect to GitHub, your database, Slack and every other tool, through one standard format instead of a custom integration for each. ACP is the other side of the agent. It's the Agent Client Protocol, an open protocol originally created by Zed, and it standardises how coding agents talk to the apps you use them in. Here's what happens in an ACP session: → Your app starts the agent and sends your request → The agent streams its answer back live → It shows you the file changes it wants to make → It asks before anything risky, like deleting a file → And it's the REAL agent running behind the scenes, so it keeps your settings, tools and login That's how you can run Claude Code with Claude Opus 5.5 on your frontend and Codex with GPT-6 Astra on your backend, in the same app, and just switch between them. Apps like T3 Code, which is free and open source, use ACP to bring in even more agents. One catch: some agents need a small adapter to speak ACP, and your subscriptions and billing still belong to each provider. MCP connects an agent to the tools it uses. ACP connects an agent to the app you use it in. 💬 Which agent would you run side by side: Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode? 📌 Save this for later and send it to the dev on your team who still lives in the terminal. #ai #aiagents #claudecode #developertools #coding
