I lost two really special people earlier this year within weeks of each other. It was devastating. I’m not religious at all and I don’t believe in anything specific. But I find comfort in this idea that they get to hang out with Patrick Stewart, Dolly Parton, and Tim Curry out there in the ether.

My mother loved TNG. I watched it with her as a kid but never truly understood the message. Then in 2014 i rewatched it with the wisdom of an adult and i understood. I watched S1 of Picard when it came out. I told my mom about it and we were supposed to watch it together. But she passed away. I’ve never been able to go back and see the next two seasons. But now that Sir Patrick Stewart is gone, I am conflicted.

I'm barely able to talk about his death at this moment. I don't worship celebrities and when a famous person dies it feels the same as when a stranger dies. His death hit hard and I'm not embarrassed to admit that I'm mourning a man I never met but who is, and always be, my Captain.

I really didn’t like Picard S2, but the concept of Q tying up his unfinished business and trying to help Picard, not for any grander purpose, but because it was of personal importance to him, was great. Good enough for a full season of TV? Not really, but it would’ve made a great episode.
