‼️ MAN ACCUSED OF MURDERING MAMA TOT’S 18-YEAR-OLD SON GOES ON TRIAL AFTER REJECTING PLEA DEAL More than four years after 18-year-old Randon Lee was fatally shot at an Alabama gas station, the man accused of killing him is finally going on trial. Reuben Thomas Gulley, 24, of Saraland, Alabama, is charged with murder in connection with Lee’s June 24, 2022, death. Lee was the son of popular TikTok star Ophelia Nichols, who is known to millions as “Mama Tot.” ❤️ Jury selection began Monday, November 2, in Mobile County Circuit Court, with opening statements expected to begin Tuesday morning. Lee was killed just one day before his 19th birthday. According to investigators, he had arranged to meet individuals at the First Stop gas station on St. Stephens Road in Prichard, Alabama, to sell some weed. Surveillance footage showed a black Toyota Camry arriving at the gas station around 7:30 p.m. A passenger wearing a red hoodie exited the vehicle before getting back inside. Shortly afterward, Lee arrived in his silver vehicle and parked near the gas pumps. The individual wearing the red hoodie then approached Lee’s vehicle and allegedly entered the back seat. Approximately 22 seconds later, the individual exited Lee’s vehicle and returned to the Camry, which fled the scene. Investigators believe Lee was shot while sitting inside his vehicle. Despite being critically wounded, Lee managed to drive across the street to another gas station, where his vehicle came to a stop. He died from his injuries. 😢 Investigators later determined that Lee had been shot in the back. Gulley, who was 20 years old at the time, became a suspect after investigators examined cellphone records and communications leading up to the shooting. During a preliminary hearing in October 2022, investigators testified that Gulley had communicated with Lee multiple times on the day of the murder, including a phone call approximately two minutes before the shooting. Lee’s girlfriend reportedly told investigators that Lee had previously sold marijuana to Gulley and had arranged another transaction that evening. Gulley surrendered to authorities on August 18, 2022, after a murder warrant was issued for his arrest. He has remained incarcerated without bond while awaiting trial. However, Gulley has maintained his innocence, and his defense attorneys have challenged the evidence connecting him to the shooting. During earlier court proceedings, investigators acknowledged that they had not recovered a murder weapon, fingerprints, or DNA evidence directly identifying Gulley as the shooter. His defense also questioned whether investigators could conclusively establish that Gulley was the individual captured on surveillance footage. The case has faced additional complications involving the credibility of the lead investigator, former Prichard Police Detective Jason Hadaway, who was convicted of third-degree perjury in an unrelated matter in October 2025. Gulley’s defense attorney, Chase Dearman, has indicated that Hadaway’s credibility and the handling of evidence will be significant issues during the trial. In October 2025, prosecutors offered Gulley a plea agreement that would have allowed him to plead guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter in exchange for a recommended 20-year prison sentence, with credit for approximately three years already served. Prosecutors also offered to dismiss separate drug charges against him. Despite his own attorney recommending that he accept the agreement, Gulley refused. During the October 28, 2025, hearing, Mobile County Circuit Judge Michael Windom warned Gulley that the offer would not remain available and that his case would proceed to trial. Gulley acknowledged the warning and maintained his decision. If convicted of murder, he faces a potential sentence ranging from 20 years to life in prison. The decision was particularly emotional for Mama Tot, who attended the hearing and was seen fighting see my comments ⬇️ #news #crime #truecrime #alabama #mamatot
