Patrick had such love for everyone. I remember a Vanity Fair interview he did several years ago in which he talked about how his working-class background led him to be grateful for his career because he knew he couldn't take it for granted. He knew that someone of his standing was not supposed to be performing Shakespeare at Stratford upon Avon.

For anyone confused, Ian is gay and Patrick is straight, they just shared a very deep and intimate platonic friendship together. They were not afraid to be affectionate with each other, similar to how some families are.
