@nationwriter: Full Narration – Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 2849 Narrator: Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA) Book: Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal Hadith Number: 2849 English translation: It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Khadijah (RA). Her father wanted to arrange her marriage. So Khadijah prepared food and drinks and invited her father and a group of men from the Quraysh. They ate and drank until they became intoxicated. Khadijah then said to her father: "Muhammad ibn Abdullah has proposed to me. Marry me to him." Her father agreed and married her to Muhammad ibn Abdullah. Afterwards, Khadijah perfumed her father and dressed him in a fine robe, as was their custom when preparing fathers for such occasions. When her father's intoxication wore off, he looked at himself and realised that he was wearing perfume and a fine robe. He asked: "What has happened to me? What is this?" Khadijah replied: "You have married me to Muhammad ibn Abdullah." Her father responded: "Am I to marry you to the orphan of Abu Talib? No, never!" Khadijah then said: "Are you not ashamed? Do you want to make yourself look foolish in front of the Quraysh by telling people that you were drunk?" She continued persuading him until he finally agreed.
