@jmjjitiyjohn1930: Astronaut Mike Hopkins grew up Protestant but entered the Catholic Church in 2012 after marrying a Catholic and choosing to raise their sons in the faith. The following year, as he prepared for his first mission to the International Space Station, he wanted to bring the Eucharist with him. With help from his pastor and special permission from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, he was able to take consecrated Hosts into space. During the mission, Hopkins received Communion each morning before his spacewalks. He kept the Hosts in a pyx close to his heart inside his suit. Knowing that Jesus was present with him, even hundreds of miles above the Earth, brought him deep comfort as he faced the dangers of working in the vacuum of space. For Hopkins, the Eucharist became a powerful reminder that God remains near, no matter how far one travels. #CatholicNews #NewsUpdate #prayer #jesus #GodFirst
