🚨APOLLO SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 11/2 AT 11AM FOR MEDICAL🚨 PLEASE SHARE EVERYWHERE! 💔 Apollo was surrendered as a puppy in November 2024 for “behavior.” Just 8 days later, he was adopted & given what should have been a second chance. Nearly 2 years later, on 10/27, he was found wandering as a stray, covered in scars, with a severely damaged front leg & heartworm disease. Now he’s facing euthanasia. We don’t know what happened to Apollo during those 2 years, but his condition is heartbreaking. His left front leg is visibly deformed, with significant muscle loss, & he cannot bear weight on it. X-rays revealed evidence of an old injury to his upper leg bone, with probable nerve damage. The vet has recommended amputation to improve his comfort & quality of life. Apollo needs a committed placement that can arrange surgery, pain management, & postoperative recovery. He is also heartworm positive and has begun medication as part of his treatment protocol. 💔 Understandably, Apollo is frightened in the shelter. He has been observed trembling, retreating from people, avoiding eye contact, & growling when approached. He will accept treats, but they haven’t always been enough to help him relax. He needs someone who can respect his fear & safely manage his medical care. During his previous shelter stay, he was affectionate & laid-back. In recent playgroups, he has approached other dogs to greet them, sought interaction, & shown a gentle, social demeanor. Apollo has already been failed miserably multiple times.
