@doyoumissournights: i was in line behind them at a little bakery downtown and she was going back and forth between a lemon tart and a chocolate thing for so long the cashier started laughing. her boyfriend just smiled and said it. i assumed it was her birthday, and when she told me he says that every day, i literally put my hand over my heart. i went home thinking about it for hours. in my last relationship, i felt guilty ordering appetizers because he'd sigh at the bill. i felt like i had to earn every nice thing. watching that couple reminded me that love can be generous in tiny everyday ways. not grand trips, just letting someone have both desserts. i didn't know i was allowed to want that. now i'm with someone who buys me two coffees when i can't decide, and every time, i think about that girl at the bakery.
