@debbie.steel4: Ken Paxton just canceled three stops on his own bus tour after thanking a single person for clapping at his Odessa event Ken Paxton's final push for the Senate is falling apart in front of empty chairs. According to The Daily Beast's The Swamp newsletter, Paxton canceled three stops on his statewide Come and Take It bus tour: a rally in El Paso, a meet-and-greet in Texarkana, and an appearance at 1836 Texas Kitchen in Tyler. His campaign blamed logistics for postponing El Paso. The Tyler stop was scrapped after JD Vance announced competing appearances in Texas. The empty rooms are the real story. The Swamp reports that in Amarillo on Oct. 26, Paxton was caught busing people into his rally, and the crowd was still laughably small. On Oct. 28, video from his stop at the Arc Light Bar & Grill in San Angelo, showing only a few dozen people, drew widespread mockery. Then came Odessa. At Mama's Kitchen on Wednesday, only one person applauded. Paxton thanked the crowd for that one clap. One clap, from a man running for the United States Senate in the second-biggest state in America. Meanwhile, according to The Swamp, early voting in Texas is breaking records. Multiple counties have already passed their entire 2022 totals, and Harris County has had more early voting than any other midterm ever. James Talarico was asked about it and didn't hold back. He said nobody is going to Ken Paxton's rallies, so he's canceling them and hoping Elon Musk will buy the seat for him. He said Paxton's only volunteers are AI robots, his only donor is Musk, and his only rally attendees are reporters forced to cover an empty room. The final stop on Paxton's tour is Monday at the Alamo. A candidate who needs a bus to fill a room and thanks a lone clapper is telling you exactly where his campaign stands.
