As someone who doesn’t like Jay-Z it’s his style of rapping, it’s very chopping and punchline oriented. His beats are very urban coded and a lot of his songs just don’t really resonate with me at all. When you sit down and think about it almost every one of Jay-Z most popular songs have a feature was with someone who was trailblazing the new generation. (Kanye, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Eminem, Beyoncé). He’s the GOAT of the era before all these artist established themselves and YET they carry that title into the modern era and when you sit and listen to his solo tracks can you really crown someone the “GOAT” if you can only really like not even love 1 out of every 10 solo tracks? Like go through his discography is it better then Eminem? Kanye? Is he better than Cole? Is he better than Wayne? And that’s why everyone brings up “who was jay z better than?”
