Or maybe it’s because 3/4 of the hospital is sleeping and they don’t need as much as tension as they do during the day. Do we ever think about that?

I work in the lab and during the day we get thousands of specimen from outpatient clinics. thats a workload that simply doesnt exist at night. not to mention how much busier ED and OR are during the day

It's almost like people are sleeping at night and there is a smaller demand for care during those hours.

We also aren’t doing procedures and outpatients. I love night shift but day shift gets their teeth kicked in on the daily.

Or maybe the testing, surgery and diagnosing is done during the day and you are just maintaining orders while patients are sleeping

night shift will never admit that the lower staff directly reflects the amount of patients that are awake and being cared for during your hours. All of the patients are awake and out of bed during the day.

Maybe the call for medical care is much less at 3 am. People in the hospital or at home are asleep!

You must work nightshift where you don't have to deal with Dr's rounding, OP, and procedures that are done during the day.
