@solaglocal: Ya... it was that crazy 😳 Please read: This was some of the craziest high tides I have ever seen. Luckily this particular home was very sturdy with big concrete walls and steel and sustained less damage. But some of the other homes were not so lucky and have had severe damage. Before you say "they shouldn't have built that close to the water, or shouldn't have built on the sand" these homes are on Bedrock and there actually used to be a decent size beach right in front of the homes for quite a while. Also the sand moves with the seasons but less and less is moving back because the natural sand supply or replenishment has been severely cut off. I filmed this because it is both exciting and concerning. Spreading awareness is the only way for more people to be aware of the fact that Southern California has a natural sand supply shortage. Development all across SoCal with the Damns built and pavement, roads, storm drains, culverts and everything built to prevent erosion has limited the main source of sand coming down to our coastline which becomes our beaches. This is a major concern and unless humans can help reintroduce sand along our coastline which used to happen naturally, our beaches are going to be gone sooner than later. These sand replenishment project's are NOT "Just for the rich" or "we shouldn't have to pay for the rich" blah blah blah. These sand replenishment projects will benefit everyone and the economy too. The beaches are public and are being choked off behind damns and upstream under pavement and storm drains etc. Take a Look at undeveloped parts of Mexico and Baja, they have HUGE beaches and arroyos and tons of sand on their beaches because rain pushes it down very frequently. The facts are not hard to see. We can all help, versus just "letting the ocean destroy everything" We need to protect roads, property, intrastructure, homes, coastal access points etc. We are humans and Mother Nature is powerful, I will be the first to agree with that. But we also can't just sit back and let things get worse when there are steps that can help. Hashtag #WeNeedSand it you read this far down. Please share this post. #SoLagLocal
