@iconsxicons: Did you know? James Caan was first cast as Michael, before he and Coppola pushed for Al Pacino and Caan took the role of Sonny instead. Paramount did not want Pacino at all: executives wanted a bigger name and thought he was too short, and he was signed only about three weeks before filming began. The studio did not want Marlon Brando either, so for his screen test Brando did his own makeup, stuffing cotton into his cheeks to become Vito. Connie was played by Talia Shire, Coppola's own sister, and the baby in the baptism scene is his infant daughter, Sofia Coppola. And the horse's head in that bed was real, obtained from a dog-food company.
