People of Ireland, please be careful as there’s another scam doing the rounds and this time it’s targeting Revolut users. If someone you don’t know sends you money and then threatens you that they will get your account cancelled, block them and report it to the fraud team. Adding more info: Sending the money back doesn't automatically compromise your account but there are a few ways scammers will take it further. They'll claim the payment hasn't gone through, ask you to verify the transaction or send you a phishing link directing you to a fake Revolut page to steal your login details. They can also use the situation to pressure you into sharing verification codes or approving transactions. The advice is not to engage or return the money yourself. Report it directly to Revolut through the app and let them handle it. By threatening you, scammers create a sense of panic and urgency resulting in many people letting their guard down. Another tactic is they’ll use a stolen or compromised card/account to send you money so you’re effectively sending money back to the scam account. They don’t own the money they send but they own the money they receive and you could get stung for that in the end. Either way, do not engage. Do not spend the money. Block them and report this immediately. Also any nasty comments to people on here that are sharing their stories will be immediately deleted, reported and blocked.
