The Prophet ﷺ turned to him and told him he had asked Allah by His Greatest Name: when Allah is asked by it, He gives, and when He is called by it, He answers. Think about that for a second, akhi. These are words you can learn tonight. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ Allāhumma innī as'aluka bi-annī ashhadu annaka anta-llāh, lā ilāha illā ant, al-Aḥad aṣ-Ṣamad, alladhī lam yalid wa lam yūlad, wa lam yakun lahū kufuwan aḥad. O Allah, I ask You because I bear witness that You are Allah. There is no god except You, the One, the Sustainer needed by all, who has never had offspring, nor was He born, and there is none comparable to Him. Save this for the next time you raise your hands, and send it to a brother who needs it. May Allah answer all our duʿāʾs. 📖 Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1493 (ṣaḥīḥ); also Tirmidhī 3475 and Ibn Mājah 3857, narrated by Buraydah رضي الله عنه.
