As a runway model who experienced something similar not quite a month ago, I can confidently say that the dress plays a huge role in how a model walks. I was given a very long, tight dress, and it significantly restricted my pace. I literally had to slow down and take shorter steps to avoid tripping over the dress. Even when I tried to pick up my pace, I had to be careful. So I don't think it's fair to blame the model or immediately conclude that it's a training or production issue. Sometimes, it's the outfit itself. The dress matters a lot, and not every outfit allows a model to walk at the same pace.

That’s why ‘dress rehearsals’ is important so they can see how the models walk in the actual dress to be displayed on the runway but there’s usually not so much time for that

Your observation is very valid. But I guess her walk was as a result of the restrictions of her dress. I think the problem is with their director (or whatever they’re called) they should have separated the slow walkers from the fact ones so that this mismatch doesn’t happen

Gosh I noticed this so much in almost all the shows. And sure maybe dress fittings and shoes might be an issue but I thought that’s why there’s music with beats for the walk to match. It just sometimes distracts you and now I’m focused on the discordination instead of the dresses.

I walked Lagos fashion week on the first day and I’ll categorically tell you there are different constraints that cause this. One of them is the structure of some dresses being restricted, another is the balance of the heels provided(if you like, go dey gallop, you go splatter for ground). The third is the instruction of the designer, some models are told to walk slower because the designer wants some dresses to be highlighted, some dresses in the collection are more “important” than the others according to the designer.
