@washingtonpost: I’m maid of honor, and the bride’s stepmother insists on attending the bachelorette party with her teen daughter because she’s paying for the wedding. Do I give in and invite her? Advice columnist Carolyn Hax weighs in.
“Maid of Honor” not specific enough. Has to be sibling maid of honor to bud in like, or yes whoever pays obviously has the final say.

There are Showers and other ways they have to celebrate with the bride. No they can’t come to the bachelorette party

If she pays, her rules on guests, food, drinks, etc. If not… sounds like she’s a not fun person

She is a the bride's step-mother, so in truth, her father is paying for the wedding. Just because her parent is paying a bill doesn't mean they get to decide anything. Have a luncheon with the parents & all the bridesmaids, and then have the bachelorette on your own terms.

Nope. Just don’t tell her anything about it. This is not that hard.

Time for a decoy party (aka lunch) at the Cheesecake Factory. The real party happens later and elsewhere.
