I am desperate to filter out ai slop on every platform. Whichever platform does it first is going to be so incredibly popular.

Users have been screaming for regular subscriber feed instead of automatic, one so what? Instagram doesn't care. 😑

I left Facebook and Instagram. The shitty algorithms were one thing, but the forced AI content and Muse push ended my relationship with that company forever.

That’s like Elon banning bots…which creates views and interactions. It’s a business model.

they won't. if the AI content drives less traffic, there will be less investment in AI and hurt the AI industry.

Let the market figure it out. Push AI tools but if interaction goes down creators should adapt

With YouTube it’s some cynical loop. Because they changed their setup on how to get paid because of AI dump channels, while simultaneously offering these AI tools. So: make it harder to get paid for making content while making it “easier” to create content for the platform (which will make money off it, regardless)

I’m hoping, that at some point enough people will be annoyed with AI content or annoyed they can’t tell real from fake, that new platforms will emerge advertising “no AI” or no “AI images” here, or “the social network for real people” 🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe we could call it “truth social” 🤣. Damn, that would actually be a good name for something like this. It’s too bad it’s taken.

I feel like it’s more an issue with bots that just Ai generated content. If that guy I knew in high school makes a Ai photo of himself, it’s stupid but doesn’t need to be filtered out. Bot accounts and view farms have always been a problem.

The problem with implementing such a filtering solution is it would require them to face a very harsh reality: the majority of users do not want AI-content in their feeds. To do so would be sawing at the branch they’ve banked nearly their entire financial hopes on.

Their end goal is to get their top creators to use Ai to make as much content as they can while PAYING them less. Also, we really should stop using social media. We lived fine for thousands of years without it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The only thing that matters is what grumpy shareholders think at the earnings call. Not what people want not what users want. It’s a world that caters to grumpy shareholders who look at the stupidest numbers to decide if a company is valuable and in this case it’s Moseri saying to them “we have X million amount of active users”, “ad spend is through the roof.”, etc. The fact that these users are AI that the engagement is false and that the content is AI doesn’t matter to the grumpy shareholder. The last time any CEO on a platform cared about what users wanted was never.

They don’t want to because misinformation and fake drama drives engagement. The truth doesn’t spread as fast as conspiracy theories smh.

Let’s hope they don’t start filtering accounts that post wildly racist conspiracies about American companies. Nilay may find he loses impressions otherwise
