@thinkbiggertv: Why does the drive home feel faster, even when it takes just as long? It’s called the return trip effect. This time perception illusion makes the return journey feel shorter, and psychology research suggests there’s more to it than knowing the route. Researchers tested bike rides, different roads, and even videos of someone else traveling. The surprising clue? Your expectations.

I disagree, I think it’s because when you’re driving there, you’re excited for something and you’re waiting to do something when you’re driving home you’re literally just driving home

I always assumed it had to do with loss of conscious thought. like when youre going to work/school or whatever else youre in anticipation for where youre going and what youre doing and that just leads to being more aware of the drive there, VS on the way back when youre just going through the motion, nothing left to anticipate. I wonder if the feeling would change in people who are going home knowing full well they'll have to leave as soon as they grab one thing.

Mines the opposite. Getting there is exciting. Getting home is desperate and tired and feels like foreverrrrr

I always assumed it was because there’s a certain radius around where you live that you consider to be home so when you’re leaving for somewhere, the entire tome while you are in that radius feels like it takes forever before it seems like you’ve actually left

its because the CATCHES inside your brain is already loaded. so on the way back it's easy to load.
