my mom let me dress “sexy” as a teen as long as it was stylish and tastefully done

Men are always looking!!! The young mind doesn’t realize yet the sicknesses of men. it’s so sad looking back I remember attention being given to me as a teenager in newport for being ‘pretty’ and it was more attention than I got in my 20s as an adult.

I’m a dad of two young boys and I do not envy girl-parents in 2026.

I grew up overweight and didn’t get attention from boys (or men). I had no idea how much of a blessing that was until I became an adult.

I was raised the same way, and it only taught me that everyone sexualizes your body, even your own parents. It doesn’t matter what you wear, truly, people will sexualize you no matter what.

I’m thinking, that whole logic of “teach boys not to…” is cool in theory. But it seems that nobody has been able to master a way of teaching men as of yet. Women raising daughters cannot teach those men, all they can do is protect their own child. Thats their only job, not to raise someone else’s son. I feel a bit bad how some rhetoric has shamed mothers into feeling like they’re doing the wrong thing, when they’re only doing what they can.

My mom used to say “omg that old man was just looking at you, gross what a sicko” and it grossed me out so much I would dress more conservatively.

It’s honestly a reasonable skill to teach: how to dress for time and place

Maybe instead of framing her dressing in the way of modest, but explain to her the importance of professionalism and respectable clothing. You can wear a crop top and still look respectable but it’s about how you style less modest items like that just as an example

as a 29 yr old with a VERY strict mother I completely agree and I appreciate that she protected me and encouraged modesty.

When I was growing up I loved my mother’s fashion sense, she was still helping me put together outfits for me when I was in HS. She helped foster a love for clothes and helped create my own style, so I didn’t always adopt what girls my age were wearing.

My mother had the same approach for me growing up- I had freedom of expression, but age appropriate. I think it’s great to let kids be kids as long as possible & I felt it helped me build confidence/security in myself as an adult. You sound like a great mom💖

No it makes total sense as someone who just graduated from teen years not too long ago, back in high school it was a lot about fitting in because of social norms/wanting to be liked, but she will appreciate this as she ages

I remember you telling cuzo (paraphrasing) that it wasn’t the clothing that was the issue it’s the attention and understanding what all that welcomes (whether it be intentional or not) ❤️still think about that!

Unity :
teaching men to not notice, look, and be attracted to seeing when who, either intentionally or not, advertise their sexual characteristics where they look like a fully mature adult (RISKY cuz girls can mature EARLY) is equivalent to teaching when to not notice, want, or be attracted to having luxury things, money, and a rich partner.
it's possible, only for some, but very unlikely and kind of insane. it's nature so learn from it didn't go against it

if i had a daughter, yes, i’d want her to be safe, but id want most for her to learn to feel like the most beautiful woman in the world even if there was no one to see
