@olivergdixon: Skin cancer update from my dermatologist visit. It's basal cell carcinoma and I have surgery next Thursday to get it removed. If something on your skin looks off, go get it checked. #basalcellcarcinoma #basalcell #skincancer #skincancerawareness #dermatology
Mohs surgery….. takes a long time as they go back and forth to Pathology

MOHS on the abdomen? That’s a much especially for a basal cell I feel like…but that’s just me. Either way it’s no worse than the original biopsy

I had the same thing done in my face in June. They can give you a pill for anxiety

You’ll be ok. They will numb it and you’ll feel nothing. I had it twice on my nose

It’s a super quick thing. I know they say “surgery“ but basically just a simple removal.

You can ask for a mild anxiety medication. I promise you will breeze through it. I worked for a dermatologist and saw the MOHS surgeries. You got this!

I have Mohs done twice on my face. It wasn’t that bad. If you have to have skin cancer, basal escalator is the best one to have.

My dad has had several removed from his face and top of head and did great. No pain, they numb you up and it heals well. Best wishes

Aw that’s upsetting but I’m glad it’s treatable. Even more glad you caught that.

I get panic attacks and they give me atavan for procedures and flying and it works well for me. Not sure if that’s an option for you . My pcp orders it and I take it 30-60 min before

I’ve had (non cancerous) stuff cut out before. One on my arm recently. It’s okay. They numb that part of your body you feel nothing. Just look away. So for you it will be like that part of your stomach will be like your head when you try and have a thought (remember last year when you did that? Just a big ball of numb? Yeah, like that only on your stomach). 😂😁 You honestly will not feel anything. It is not a big deal.

Ask for headphones. It’s such a gamer changer for medical anxiety

Call and ask if they will call you in something for anxiety. They should be able to.

You couldn't be more scared than I was. Its basically painless. I promise. The after care is worse than the procedure. Good luck you'll do fine.

I had two removed before I was even 16! They numb you really well, just try not to look! I recommend finding a scar jelly to help heal and get rid of the scar if you want. It isn’t too bad I promise
