@susanmileski: A hotel with more than 460 years of history! 🇪🇸 During my Camino Portugués Coastal, I had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Monumento Convento de San Benito in A Guarda, Spain. But this wasn’t always a hotel! Founded in 1558 by four siblings, this historic property was originally a convent for Benedictine nuns. The monastery and church were completed in 1561, and the nuns lived here for more than 400 years before leaving in the early 1980s. In 1990, part of the former convent was given a new life as a hotel. I love discovering places like this when I travel. There’s something special about being able to experience a little piece of history rather than simply passing through another town.
