@soulfulfillingyoga: There are certain times that invite us to be a little more reflective. In Kundalini practice, and within Sikh tradition, there is Amrit Vela- the “ambrosial” period before dawn associated with meditation and prayer- when the world is quieter, and there can be a little less external noise between us and our inner awareness. This time of year carries its own traditions of reflection and remembrance too. Samhain has long been associated with a more liminal time between worlds, while Día de los Muertos creates space to remember and celebrate loved ones who have passed. And then, of course, there’s Halloween- or All Hallows’ Eve- with all of its own history layered in. Whether you believe the veil between worlds is actually thinner this time of year or you’re firmly in the skeptical camp, I still think there’s something beautiful about setting aside a moment to remember the people we love who are no longer physically here. Maybe this week’s practice feels exactly like every other week. Maybe something comes up that surprises you. Maybe you simply take an extra breath for someone you miss. However you arrive, we’ll move, breathe, listen, and make a little space for whatever is present. See you on the beach! P.S. Fun fact: my spiritual name given to me is Amrit Kalyan, meaning “Prosperous one who cares for all through god’s nectar of life” — same same, but a little different. 😉 #mindfulnesspractice #kundaliniyoga #halloween #ancestorremembrance #beachyoga
