I sometimes forget I’m still viewed as an “angry bw” . One time in hs, these girls were having a conversation about their experiences with fights. When i told them i had nvr fought..they were shocked and refused to believe me..and said i look like i can “beat a bih saa” 🤨. Then the next day , i was called an Oreo. I don’t think ppl view us as individuals lol

It’s also rooted in misogyny because the stereotype goes against the traditional value of women being submissive. I feel a lot of stereotypes are projections of a groups insecurities because white men back then wouldn’t want to see their women as sassy or loud so they project those feelings onto black women. They did a similar thing with the “lazy black” stereotype that originated during slavery. Masters would call their own slaves lazy 😒

as I’ve gotten older I started noticing this stereotype and it’s good to finally understand its origins and how it goes way beyond being a character thing for movies and shows, you explained it really well
