@alliestyx: There’s a beautiful word for the whispering, rustling sound of wind moving through trees: susurration. 🍂 Even more fascinating? Different species of trees produce their own distinctive sounds, something novelist Thomas Hardy wrote about back in 1872. The idea that you could recognize trees simply by listening to them feels like something out of a fairy tale. #naturetok #esoteric #trees
Pocahontas quite literally showed us .COLORS OF THE WIND . It gets deeper lol

I literally speak with them. If you put your hands on them, put your awareness in your heart, they speak actual words to you. They will also heal you.

One of my favorite memories while camping up Guanella pass in Colorado. I woke up to this sound of the aspen leaves rustling in the wind and it changed my whole brain chemistry. I’ll never forget it. But I often crave being in the trees simply to listen to the leaves in the wind.

there was a time I was so depressed...I sat out back at night because the weather was so calm, & I was under the moon & SOBBED....out of nowhere a huge gust of wind blew through the trees & they began swaying & the wind like wrapped around through the trees & came around to me...it felt like a hug 😭

I used to love listening the different tones of Aspen leaves through the seasons; from the first small leaves in spring to their dried out clatter right before they fell in the fall.

I love this topic so much. I had a wonderful opportunity to learn about this in my college anthropology class taught by a linguistic anthropologist who was a brilliant Korean woman and we had to read a book about it too. I was only 21 at the time so I might reread

I’ve always noticed that when I’m by Cottonwood it sounds like I’m by a stream and they love to live by water and flood planes so it makes sense
