Emily Byles says her fiancé, Zachary Velasquez, attacked her with scissors on October 5, 2026, just one month before their planned wedding in Glendale, Arizona. According to police, Byles' 11-year-old daughter called 911 after hearing screaming coming from her parents' bedroom. Officers forced their way inside and reportedly found Byles covered in blood. She suffered multiple stab wounds, serious facial injuries and a damaged vertebral artery that required emergency surgery. She was hospitalized in critical condition. Byles alleged that Velasquez had threatened her life and her daughters. She credits her brave daughter with helping save her life.
