@gingerfootgarden: Those falling leaves aren’t just something to clean up. 🍂 They’re a free resource for your garden. Dry fall leaves are an excellent source of carbon-rich “browns” for the compost pile. They help balance nitrogen-rich greens like kitchen scraps while adding structure to the pile. And here’s something I especially like to do: save some for later. Leaves are everywhere in fall, but I generate kitchen scraps throughout the year. Keeping a supply of dry leaves means I have browns ready whenever my compost needs them. Eventually, what looked like yard waste can become compost that goes right back into building my garden soil. Before you get rid of all those leaves this fall, save some for your compost pile. Follow along for more beginner and small space gardening tips and tricks!
