@historyfixpodcast: Annie Chapman was the 2nd of the “Canonical Five” Ripper victims. Her case is quite different from the others in that the relative comforts of her early life did not foretell such a grim ending to her story. What happened to bring Annie from the parlor of her own home to the back alleys of Whitechapel? Join me on History Fix to find out. Part 2 of my 3 parter on Jack the Ripper hits tomorrow so be sure you’ve listened to part 1! It’s already live… wherever you get your podcasts (or at the link in my bio.) #jacktheripper #darkhistory #truecrime #unsolved #historylovers
Through the miracles of DNA, Jack the Ripper was identified as Aaron Kosminski an immigrant barber from Poland. The interesting thing is he was on Scotland Yard's suspect list, but they didn't have sufficient evidence to arrest him or any of the other suspects.

I appreciate how you set Annie's case apart from the others and gave her a distinct story, not just a label. A clear, respectful history lesson, thank you for sharing it.

Lucy Worlsley did an excellent show on this. Some of these poor women had few choices 😕.

Annie’s story is so sad….the man she married had a good, prestigious job. Alcohol completely destroyed her.
